If you have enjoyed surfing the web over the past couple of years, there is a 95% chance you have also suffered through some form of security attack. While security attacks have always been present online, in 2007 -2008, those attacks have circumvented some serious security countermeasures and 2009 will be worse than previous years.
In the last quarter of 2006, the type of computer attacks changed course a bit. By blending old malware with newer, more complex malware, the bad guys have been able to prevent detection by typical security programs and take down systems never before possible.
Then, 2007 - 2008, proven the trend is increasing at an alarming rate with all types of viruses, adware, spyware and the such. Phishing attacks have gotten more personal (they have to do with companies/clubs you REALLY belong to), spam pushers are advancing their techniques as well as steadily increasing in numbers. Even old standbys like image verification systems (Captcha) and hardened bank authentication systems (SiteKey & two-factor authentication systems) have been cracked.
Today's web is really complex and tomorrow it will be worse. We must continue to ban together and fight the bad guys who are holding the web ransom!
Take a proactive stance
against malware and we will take back the web from the malware writers, website hackers, and bogus businessman pushing
bad code to better their wallets.
As the founding member of CAAM, a consumer advocate organization
designed to expose companies that employ malware tactics, I
will continue to fight malware from several different fronts. I am also a proud member of ASAP - Alliance of
Security Analysis Professionals, along with several other

related organizations and agencies.
